The Nature Collective (TNC) is a Second Life community dedicated to cultivating and celebrating spaces that center on nature, environmental beauty, and exploration. Created with the intention of bringing people closer to the restorative power of natural environments, TNC supports sims, landscapes, and projects that invite residents to slow down, reconnect, and experience the wonder of nature—both in the virtual world and beyond.
As a partner within the LGBTQIA+ Directory’s Outreach & Partnerships Program, The Nature Collective represents a shared commitment to inclusive, affirming spaces that support well-being, creativity, and community connection. This partnership highlights TNC’s role in fostering environments where LGBTQIA+ residents and allies can feel welcome, inspired, and free to explore at their own pace.
At its core, The Nature Collective is about fostering a shared appreciation for thoughtfully designed natural spaces. Member locations emphasize immersion, accessibility, and visual storytelling, offering visitors places to explore, reflect, photograph, and be present. These environments often serve as quiet retreats, creative inspiration hubs, or gathering places where community connection can form organically.
TNC welcomes public, nature-focused spaces that prioritize openness and inclusivity. To be considered, locations must be publicly accessible, free of ban lines or security devices in public nature areas, and maintain a primary focus on nature, with at least fifty percent or more of the sim dedicated to natural landscapes. Residential rentals are permitted when nature remains the dominant theme, and visitors are provided with meaningful public areas to explore. Spaces are expected to be easy to navigate, aesthetically cohesive, detail-oriented, and rich in photogenic and exploratory elements. Adult-rated locations are eligible, provided they are not sex-themed in nature.
The Nature Collective does not accept roleplay-only locations or temporary installations, though seasonal renovations and evolving landscapes are welcomed. Approved Nature Creators agree to place a low-impact TNC group joiner or information sign at their landing point or designated info area, maintain membership in both the main TNC group and the private creator communication group, and actively participate in sharing updates, events, and developments within the collective.
Applications to The Nature Collective are accepted on a rolling basis. Once an application is received, a member of the volunteer TNC administrative team will visit the location to assess whether it aligns with the collective’s vision and standards. Review timelines may vary depending on availability, but accepted creators are contacted directly in Second Life with next steps and onboarding information.
Through its participation in the LGBTQIA+ Directory Outreach & Partnerships Program, The Nature Collective helps expand access to peaceful, inclusive, and creatively rich environments—offering residents spaces that celebrate both the beauty of nature and the diversity of the communities that gather within it.
