Rainbow Sails Yacht Club
RAINBOW SAILS YACHT CLUB (RSYC) is Second Life’s LGBT-owned and LGBT-friendly boating group.
Actually we are the only LGBT sailing group on the grid. We welcome everyone – landlubber and sailor alike.
Our main clubhouse and marina are located in the beautiful United Sailing Sims, in Osprey Ridge on the Blake Channel. We are a pretty active group. We run three cruises each week, around the Blake Sea and connected waters and sometimes further afield – twice on Saturday, at 4 am SLT and then again at 10:00, and on Sunday at 10 am SLT.
We run two marina’s. We have in total 72 berths for different sizes of sailboats and powerboats, a classroom for learning to sail with freebie boats to get you started, a locker room and shower area, a social centre with the club bar, and a Scuba diving spot. Our commodores, officers and experienced members are enthusiastic sailors. Some of us sail in both worlds.
We can help you find your first sailing boat. There are some good free boats available and a wide variety of boats to buy. And we can teach you how to handle sailing boats. Some of our experienced members are willing to teach you on your own boat.
We also own the RAINBOW POWER MARINA, for small to medium size motorboats. There is a clubhouse there as well, and a beach for sunning, swimming and dancing. Every Wednesday at noon SLT we organize the weekly beach party. Welcome!
Do come along, whether you are gay or str8, whether or not you know how to sail. Everyone is welcome. You can always join another member’s boat for a cruise. We stop at least once on each cruise, to rest and chat, or for a swim. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming.
